if u exclude asexuals from the queer community then u can exit my life right now
please don’t use the word queer when discussing the exclusion of asexuals; use “lgbtqiap*” which is a deliberately expanded community formed to include non-queer identities, like asexual people. there are non-queer asexuals because asexuality is not inherently a queer identity (queer is a slur that has never been directed at asexuals, only gay/bi/pan/trans people and by extension, homo/bi/pan romantic asexuals & trans asexuals) and as a result, there are heteroromantic asexuals aka straight asexuals. these people do face marginalization but they cannot reclaim the slur queer which has never been intended historically to attack asexuality or straight people.
I feel like this might be kind of implied but I feel like I need to add: just don’t use the word qu**r as a general term for the lgbt+ community because there are many people who are not comfortable reclaiming what has historically been used as a very violent slur against us
